Prince George's 1st Day of School!

Today, Prince George hit another major milestone of growing up: his first day of school. The four-year-old is attending Thomas's Battersea, a preparatory day school located in Southwest London with approximately 560 students. This is his "reception" year, and the school focuses on "enjoyment, learning, and achievement" along with a great emphasis on their core value, kindness.

Unfortunately, Princess Kate was unable to see her eldest off, as she is still suffering from hyperemsis graviderum, but Prince William proudly accompanied his son, walking hand-in-hand into the school. George looked quite solemn when shaking hands with the teacher – perhaps a case of first day jitters or a sign he is going to take his studies seriously ;-) However, Kensington Palace shared a photo later today of the lad smiling proudly with his dad on the steps of Kensington Palace shortly before leaving for school. So adorable!

The Cambridges made sure George's first day remained relatively low-key, limiting the press presence to only one photographer and one TV camera.

George was decked out in his summer school uniform, available at John Lewis, which consists of navy ankle socks, a navy pullover featuring the school logo, and a light blue button down shirt with collar. He also carried his matching rucksack, also featuring the school logo and the name he'll use there, George Cambridge.
