It's official – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child! Kensington Palace made the announcement this morning when Kate had to back out of a scheduled appearance at the Hornsey Road Children's Centre. As with her two previous pregnancies, Kate is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, or acute morning sickness, prompting the early announcement. Royal watchers will recall that Kate was hospitalized for the condition in December 2012 and was treated again at Kensington Palace by Alan Farthing, gynecologist to the Queen, in September 2014.

Hyperemesis gravidarum usually occurs during the first trimester of pregnancy, meaning Kate will likely give birth in the spring, April or May, as she did with Charlotte! For now, the Duchess remains under the supervision of doctors within the comfort of Kensington Palace and was visited by Carol Middleton today. It is hoped she will recover in a few weeks time.

We at Prince George Pieces couldn't be more thrilled for the Cambridges and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the littlest royal family member! The three youngsters will be very close in age, and George and Charlotte will surely enjoy a playmate in the royal nursery. And we know you were wondering – the new royal baby will be fifth in line to the throne. We can hardly contain our excitement! Is it spring yet!?
