Hand-Me-Downs at the Park

This week, Woman’s Day Australia published photos of Prince George and Princess Charlotte enjoying an outing to the park near Kensington Gardens with Nanny Maria. The royal family clearly prioritizes time spent outdoors – play dates in the park seem to be one of their favorite activities!
George wore head-to-toe navy – his signature look. A striped blue and white collar peeked out from beneath a solid, crew neck sweater adding a pop of pattern to an otherwise monochromatic look. On bottom, the toddler wore a pair of dark blue shorts that look similar to his Mayoral pair. The ensemble was completed with navy socks and his Converse All Star sneakers.
For the first time, Charlotte wore a red outfit! She appears to be wearing her older brother’s hand-me-downs, first seen in Canberra on April 25, 2014, during the Australian Royal Tour. Although George was only 9 months old when he first wore this outfit, we saw him wear the overalls again 2 months later at the Jerudong Trophy Polo Match. Charlotte is about 3 months older than George was at the time he wore this outfit, but with the adjustable nature of the Neck & Neck overalls and the loose fit of the UFO cardigan, we think it’s highly likely these are the same pieces. Underneath, Charlotte wore a white top with a ruffled, round collar. Quite the statement piece!
Charlotte’s look was completed with a pair of white ankle socks and Red Patent Leather Emma Pre-Walker Shoes from Early Days. Charlotte is following in her mother’s footsteps and developing quite the extensive shoe collection filled with classic styles. Her bangs were pulled back in a clip - her go-to hairstyle. The clip could very well be an Amaia Small Hair Bow in Navy based off of the many Amaia bows we’ve seen Charlotte don in the past.
As you can see, investing in classic children’s wear pieces allows you to reuse them for years to come – no matter if your littles are boys or girls. Then, like George and Charlotte, you can customize the look with accessories such as shoes and hair bows. A wise sartorial choice for any family.
