HM's 90th Birthday Commemorative Stamp

A new photograph was released this afternoon celebrating Her Majesty’s 90th birthday. This image, which will be used as a stamp set commemorating the monumental milestone, features Queen Elizabeth with her three heirs: Prince Charles, Prince William, and the adorable Prince George (standing on a pile of foam blocks). Photographed at Buckingham Palace by Ranald Mackechnie, the image is unforgettable. When asked about his memorable shoot with the royals, Mackechnie said:
“It was an amazingly relaxing and light-hearted sitting. They were comfortable with one another and behaved like any family with their conversation and jokes. It was much more relaxed than when I've tried to take pictures with my family.
The joy and energy coming out of George was fantastic. It lifted the whole shot and lifted the afternoon. He was on top form. He was quite fascinated by the lights. He took it all in his stride."
This is the first time George’s face will appear on a UK Stamp, but it certainly won’t be the last. The sheets of four can be ordered on the Royal Mail’s website for £2.56.
Continuing the blue theme of his elders’ outfits, George wore his Rachel Riley Cord Short and Shirt Set, Amaia Kids Ribbed Knee High Socks in Blue France, and Start Rite Jo First Walking Shoes. This is the third time we have seen George wear this ensemble over the last year, the first was at the birth of Princess Charlotte with the addition of an Amaia cardigan. He wore the getup a second time in the images Kate took of George and Charlotte together upon their return to Anmer Hall. Just like Mummy and “Gan-Gan”, George understands the value of a recycling a good outfit!
We expect that at least one other photo will be released of Queen Elizabeth and her great-grandchildren over the coming days, and we can’t wait! See you soon, friends.
