This afternoon we caught of glimpse of Prince George on his way to the Queen’s annual pre-Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace. George sat in the backseat of the vehicle with Kate and Princess Charlotte, who was unfortunately obscured from view. The children’s nanny, Maria Borrallo, was in attendance as well, while Prince William did not make an appearance because he attended a memorial service for Guy Pelly's father (Pelly is a very close friend of both Will and Kate). We were expecting to see pictures from this event as it happens yearly, usually about a week before Christmas. In the coming days the Royal Family will head to Sandringham Estate (where Anmer Hall is conveniently located) for more holiday festivities.
On his way to this same event last year, we saw George reading the adorable children’s book, Dig, Dig, Digging by Margaret Mayo. This time he wasn’t holding a book but instead gazed pensively out the window, cutely mimicking his Uncle Harry. The quality and lack of good photos makes it hard to identify with certainty what George is wearing, but his outfit looks quite similar to the pieces he wore in May when meeting his little sister for the first time at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital. While the collar shape is different, it is quite possible he is wearing another Rachel Riley ensemble. A very similar shirt and cardigan can be found on the designer’s website. We have reached out to Rachel Riley to see if they can verify the pieces are theirs. While no one can know for sure, we think it quite likely that George completed this look with blue or navy shorts, knee socks, and his trusty Start Rite Jo shoes.

It appears that George continues to use his Maxi Cosi Tobi car seat, first seen during the Royal Tour to New Zealand (who remembers that car seat drama?). This seat replaced the Britax model George used as an infant and has now passed on to Charlotte. The Tobi is designed for children 9 months - 4 years old, so we suspect George will continue to use it for a while longer. You can purchase the 2015 version here but bear in mind that it is not compatible with US vehicles. The company’s Pria model is similar and designed for an American audience.
It’s always a treat to catch a glimpse of Prince George and we hope to see another image or two of the children at Christmas. Until then, happy holidays!
