Introducing HRH Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

You might have noticed things look a little bit different around here. That’s because we are officially introducing Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge to Prince George Pieces. The family announced this evocative name today, and we have been melting over it ever since. Wills and Kate managed to pay tribute to four family members in one name – quite the accomplishment!
Here’s a little summary of the significance of their choices: Charlotte is the female version of Grandpa, Prince Charles’ name, and it is the middle name of Auntie Pippa. Elizabeth is not only the name of Great-Grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, but it is also Grandmother Carole's and Mummy Kate’s middle name. And I’m sure we don’t have to explain Diana, but this pays tribute to late Grandmother, Princess Diana. Bonus, both George and Charlotte have one of their parents’ middle names. So sweet! Charlotte also occurs repeatedly in the history of the British royal line, so this gorgeous name for this gorgeous girl is a classic.

Although we still haven’t figured out the maker of Charlotte’s adorable knit bonnet or her Britax car seat cover* (let us know if you have any leads on these UFOs), after speaking directly with the company we have confirmed that Cheeks’ cardigan is a sold out Amaia Kids piece from an older season. We have contacted Amaia to ask if it will be re-released and are still awaiting a response. Speaking of sold out, Princess Charlotte's G. H. Hurt & Son shawl has already sold out and is only available for pre-order. Hello Charlotte Effect.
The family of four is expected to leave Kensington Palace for Anmer Hall tomorrow. It has also been suggested that they will go on a Royal Tour in the spring of the Caribbean in Spring 2016. Yes, we would love to have ample sightings of our prince and princess. Charlotte will be slightly older than George was on 2014 Royal Tour. We are imagining matching swimsuits, bright yellow, and bucket hats!
When will we see our new princess next? You can expect to see an official family photo released, as was with George, and to see her again for her christening. We’re also looking forward to Cheek’s second birthday this summer, when we’ll hopefully be treated with birthday portraits. We can’t wait!
*UPDATE 5/7/2015* Charlotte's bonnet is a handmade piece by Spanish company, Irulea, and her car seat liner is made by Pasito a Pasito.
