Hello, Princess of Cambridge!

Many of us have been pinching ourselves throughout the day...did Kate really just give birth to a little Princess? It almost seems too good to be true! When we last left you this morning, the 8 lb 3 oz Princess of Cambridge had been born so recently the official easel had yet to go up at Buckingham Palace. We wondered if that might be the end of the big news for the day, considering we waited 24 hours before seeing Prince George after his birth, but we were so wrong! Things moved along at a breakneck speed throughout the morning and afternoon, which was a welcome relief for quite a few royal watchers who have been suffering through what many had nicknamed the #GreatKateWait2.
To begin with, Kate’s labor was much shorter with the Princess of Cambridge than it was with George, typical for a second baby we hear. In fact, the birth was announced just two short hours after Kensington Palace notified the press that she had gone into labor! And the high-paced day didn’t end there. Rumors began circulating (spurred on by the early arrival of Kate’s hairdresser) that the Cambridge family would leave St. Mary’s Hospital this very day.

And then Prince William emerged! Many had questioned whether the extremely private Duke and Duchess would bring George to the hospital to meet his new sister. Although William had visited Harry at his birth, some questioned the stress this might cause the young toddler, especially with the increase in media presence over the last 30 years. However, we were not disappointed! Before long (Kensington Palace is only a 9 minute drive from St. Mary’s), William was back with Prince George and lovingly held him as he braved a storm of camera flashes like a champ!
Yesterday we predicted that if George were to appear at the Lindo Wing, he would be wearing the color blue, a certain favorite pair of Start Rite shoes, and at least one piece from Rachel Riley, Cath Kidston or Amaia Kids. We also guessed he would be in shorts (with knee socks due to the weather) and were excited to see so many of our predictions fulfilled! George wore Rachel Riley’s Cord Short and Shirt Set with his Start Rite Jo first walking shoes

and Amaia Kids Blue France socks. He topped the ensemble off with a navy blue cardigan. At first glance we thought the sweater was Amaia, but upon closer inspection we realized it actually matched the stylistic detailing of the UFO red cardigan he wore while on tour in Australia. We’ve wondered if it could be Paz Rodriguez and have reach out to the company to see if they can confirm the piece as theirs. As always, we’ll keep you updated once we learn something! *
We’re not sure how long Prince George was with his new sibling, as he left from a different entrance and returned to Kensington Palace with his nanny, Maria Borallo. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that the Duke, Duchess and Princess of Cambridge would be returning home this evening as well. All eyes were on the live streams (and awesome Periscopes!) as they focused their lenses on the Lindo Wing doors. And let us tell you, when the young family emerged they did not disappoint! We’re now more certain than ever that Kate is secretly Super Woman! She emerged looking absolutely flawless just hours after giving birth - if that’s not amazing, we don’t know what is!

But even more thrilling was getting our first glimpse of the tiny Princess of Cambridge. She is as beautiful as ever (hello Cheeks Number 2!) and appeared in Kate’s arms, snuggled up in a white blanket with a knit yellow bonnet, coordinating very nicely with her mum’s summery Jenny Packham dress. Again, we had guessed that while not wearing the same G.H. Hurt & Son shawl as George, she would be wrapped in a very similar blanket likely from that company. We immediately saw that we were correct! The Elegant Soft Wool Baby Shawl is very similar to George’s Super-fine Merino Wool Christening Shawl. An instant classic! Unfortunately the bonnet has posed more of a challenge in the identification process, so if you have any leads let us know!*
Things continued to move speedily along as the Duke and Duchess did not pause to answer any questions from the media. There will be plenty of time for that in the coming days! The three entered the hospital and the Duke re-emerged carrying their tiny

Princess in George’s Britax Baby-safe car seat (current model seen here), with what looks to be a new white liner*. This car seat is not compatible with US vehicles but Britax does offer a similar American counterpart. It was considerably warmer at George’s birth, and at this point, he had appeared in a much lighter aden + anais swaddle. However, with the chilly temperatures and brisk wind in London, the Princess stayed all bundled up in her wool baby shawl.
So what’s ahead for the family of four? Reports say that the Cambridge’s will be spending tonight bonding together before accepting visitors tomorrow. In the next day or so we can expect an A list of royal callers and then the family's departure from Kensington Palace to their Norfolk estate, Anmer Hall. Much more exciting, however, will be the announcement of the Princess’ name. Alice? Charlotte? Elizabeth? We’ll have to wait and see! We also anticipate that a formal portrait will be released in the coming weeks to hold us over until the christening happens later this year.

It has been an absolute joy spending this momentous day with you all through social media, and we look forward to chatting as more information becomes available on George’s sweater and the Princess’ bonnet, not to mention her name! Until then, happy royal watching!
* UPDATE 5/4/15 * After after speaking directly with the company, we have confirmed that George’s cardigan is a sold out Amaia Kids piece from an older season. We have contacted Amaia to ask if it will be re-released and are still awaiting a response.
*UPDATE 5/7/15* *UPDATE 5/7/2015* Charlotte's bonnet is a handmade piece by Spanish company, Irulea, and her car seat liner is made by Pasito a Pasito.
