All About Nanny Maria

In late February, Wills and Kate hired Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo as Prince George’s full time nanny to take over for the retiring Jessie Web. She has her own accommodations at Kensington Palace and is currently accompanying the family on the Royal Tour, providing invaluable care and support during the couple’s busy schedule. Maria is a forty-three year old Norland graduate, originally from Spain but residing in the UK for some years. Little is known about Borrallo, who is said to be a devout Catholic from an affluent family. Friends of Borrallo confided in reporters that the young Borrallo was so serious and religious, they thought she might become a nun.
So you are wondering about Norland College? We were, too, so we decided to do a little research. Norland College was founded by Emily Ward in 1892 as the first college to offer training in child care. Norland offers a unique, three year undergraduate degree course, the BA (Hons) in Early Years Development and Learning (Norland), that includes multiple, 6 week placement periods. The graduates sport their infamous brown uniforms, recently update in 2013. While the women still feel a sense of pride in their apparel, they are no longer expected to wear the uniforms daily once employed by a family (we should note that the school is non discriminatory, open to male applicants as well). The curriculum is structured around four key components: Placements, Play and Learning, Care and Wellbeing, and Food and Nutrition. The degree is interdisciplinary, encompassing psychology, child health, history, philosophy, social science, literature, and education. Additionally, the nannies in training learn life skills such as First Aid, interview techniques, fitting car seats and driving in difficult conditions. They have a strict code of conduct and are taught to foster respect from the children, which means spankings are strictly forbidden! How much does it cost to get this education? The current annual tuition fee is £12,750. Norland Nannies have an average salary betwen £23,000 and £51,000 +, depending on the location, hours, and family.
