The Royal Tour is Finally Here!

If you were anything like us, tonight was a flurry of social media excitement as royal watchers everywhere crowded around their computer screens watching the Royal Tour commence via live-streaming video. When the plane landed in Sydney, the passengers transferred to a flight headed to Wellington, the official starting point of the tour. Thanks to local media, we got a quick peek at our favorite baby. George was wearing a navy, long sleeved collared top with matching bottoms. Although POPSUGAR claims George sported separates, it is difficult to tell from pictures whether it was a matching top and bottom or a one piece. A close up of the fabric shows luxe texture! His father graciously toted the family’s carry-on bags during the transfer; George even had his own - a fun, plush kangaroo backpack (already showing his Aussie spirit!) from Save the Koala. The backpack sold out within minutes of identification, but we're glad to inform you it's now back in stock. With US shipping rates, it will cost you about $30.

The arrival at Wellington kept spectators anxiously awaiting with fog and inclimate weather delaying the plane’s landing. Despite the gloomy weather, Prince George managed to brighten things up with his cheerful demeanor, sweet cheeks (squee!), and hair styled to perfection (just like his mother). We couldn’t help but note the resemblance to baby Wills. George effortlessly rocked an ivory ensemble consisting of an Annafie romper with peter pan collar and a cardigan with the Queen’s Guard embroidered on the bottom right hand corner. The romper has sailboats on it and retails for £60/$99*. He matched with ivory socks and leather shoes, perfectly pulling off the monotone look and coordinating with his mother. George reportedly made a surprise appearance at the Government House in an upstairs room viewing the formal welcome to NZ. We’re sure the onlooker who spotted his cherubic cheeks was completely distracted from the speeches - we would be!

Stay tuned for updated information as we work on identifications. In the mean time, check out Just Like George in order to replicate these classic looks.

After further research, we at Prince George Pieces believe George is wearing a pair of Bay Pods White T-Bar shoes. Bay Pods does not have its own website, but many of their products can be found on E-bay or Amazon or through wholesale traders like Elizabeth Anne Childrenswear.

With thanks to What George Wore, George's shoes are probably made by Bay Pod's sister brand, Early Days. A very talented, Leicester family runs both children's shoe lines. They use traditional shoemaking methods and are highly concerned with the quality of materials used to create the shoe and promote utmost comfort and foot health. They strive for achieving the perfect fit and give detailed instructions on their sizing page. Here is a little description about the men behind the shoes (found on their social media): “The company was founded in 1952 by two brothers, Tony and Michael Bolton, who started making shoes by hand in their parents’ house. Early Days is now run by Michael Bolton's two sons, Paul and Chris. Even today, all the shoes are manufactured in their Leicester factory as they have been for over 60 years.” The two lines are fairly integrated, sharing a website, Facebook, and Twitter account. We are sure Prince George’s cute baby-feet were well packaged in a pair of shoes from this family-first company. We can’t imagine any better values to promote in a shoe business for the most precious members of our families! Pick up a pair here.

The Belgian childrenswear company, Les Petites Abeilles, has come forth claiming George's romper as theirs, not Annafie's.
